 LAVENDER HYDROSOL

Fiche technique

Composition: The lavender *lavandula angustifolia* is composed of linalool, acetate e linalyl, terpiene-4, (known for its antiseptic properties) lavandulol, flavonoids, tannins, coumarins (natural aromatic substance)

Extraction process: Lavender hydrosol is obtained from steam distillation. This extraction process is a process that dates back centuries. The distillation apparatus we use is a replica of the distillers used in the 17th century. (apart from the thermometer).

During distillation, the water vapor charged with aromatic molecule condenses into a liquid that separates into two elements:

o lavender essential oil insoluble in water, floats on the upper part,
o lavender hydrosol, aqueous solution, containing a low concentration of lavender essential oil.

At Les Jardins, we use spring water and naturally grown lavender, without fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.

We valorize distillation residues by using them as compost for garden soil amendment / herb section.
